Based on a famous legend in the 14th century, Langkawi had
an unparalleled beautiful princess named Mahsuri. Mahsuri’s beauty made her
became famous and well known in Langkawi Island and the nearby area. Her beauty
also made her became the heartrob of the entire island. A lot of men wanted to
marry Mahsuri. Due to her beauty, the chief of the village, Karma Jaya also
wanted to marry her but his existing wife, Mahura did not give a permission to
him. Finally Mahsuri fell in love and married with Wan Darus who is Karma
Jaya’s brother. I found this story is interesting since it is related with each
other.
